Last week I bought some Luggage.
It was the bargain of a century, but as it turned out, it was too good to be true and was in fact a scam. Amazon very efficiently noticed there was something not right and even before I had to flag up the problem they contacted me to refund my payment.
Instead of being happy Amazon had saved me the inconvenience of chasing my non-existent luggage and eventually chasing their customer service department I was irrationally irritated and annoyed I wasn’t able to get the luggage I wanted at a price I could afford. I was annoyed my shortcut hadn’t worked.
Like most of us I have favourite brands and products that coordinate with the lifestyle I lead or wish to lead, and like many of us sometimes those brands fall within my budget and other times outside of my budget. Whenever they fall outside of my budget, like everyone else I have a choice to make, do I need/like the product in question enough to motivate me sacrificing another part of my budget for said product.
I think this resonates with some of the frustrations we face in the pursuit of our dreams. In my experience all dreams come at a price, the choice we face is whether we value their pursuit enough to undertake the sacrifice they may entail? Often there are no short cuts, but there is no adventure in short cuts anyway. So what do you think, is it worth it?
What’s your dream and what will it take, what cost are you prepared to pay?
