This Wednesday 8th March we took a trip down to Belfast to catch Blossoms in concert. It still seems strange to me to live somewhere where we have to drive over an hour to watch any of the more renowned bands on the scene.
Blossoms were impressively on point all night vocally and musically. So much so there were a couple of points I found myself trying to work out if they were mainly using backing tracks or if they were really playing live. But the moment the lead singer broke it down for an acoustic song you could tell they were incredibly talented musicians and were really that good.
That said there was a slight awkwardness about their performance that gave the impression they were a lot newer to the stage than they really are. I’m not sure if it was the intimacy of the venue of their relative inexperience of age but they came across a little stiff and un-engaging, although their lighting engineers should be given a medal for making up for everything the band lacked in charisma they filled with top class visuals.
