Recently I have been reading through the book of Job.
Whether you subscribe to those who read it as a literal account of an event that took place early in the history of humanity or those who read it as an elaborate parable there are several principles that stand out. The one that really caught my attention this time is that of perspective.
The lens through which we view life hugely affects our perception of what is happening to us or around us. Job finds himself torn between who he believes God to be and what he sees and experiences around him.
Which is more of a true reality?
As I read Job and his friend’s responses I found myself asking this question; “Do I speak out of a conviction of who God is or a concession of how my circumstances appear.”
It is never easy journeying life’s ups and downs. There are times when events or circumstances trigger legitimate emotional responses but through the lens of who God is there is always hope because He is in the restoration business and is and will make all things new.
Long may we come alive as we view life through the lens of who God is.
